Just posting a quick video about the Government’s response to COVID-19.
Our priority continues to be the health and safety of New Zealanders, but I also know there will be questions about how we’ll be supporting New Zealand’s industries and businesses over the coming months.
In today's update, I’m outlining some of the actions we’re already taking to support affected businesses and workers across New Zealand.
This is obviously a rapidly evolving situation, but rest assured, New Zealand is in a strong economic position and well placed to deal with whatever the economic impacts of COVID-19 may be.
The response to COVID-19 is a delicate balance between doing what it takes to protect a population's health, and doing what it takes to protect a nation's economy. The Prime Minister's message is very reassuring for NZ businesses. 1. We listen to you. 2. We've prepared for this. 3. Here's where to find help. And, underlying the whole video: 4. We're all in this together. This is the second time Ardern's desire for an "empathetic" government has been put to the test. In this case, it's coming across very well.
