CNN's David Culver visits Shanghai, China, where streets are mostly empty and businesses shuttered as fears of the novel coronavirus linger. The virus has infected more than 73,000 people around the world, mostly in mainland China.

Shanghai is one of my favourite cities. It's fascinating and tragic to see the streets so deserted. Thankfully cities across China are already slowly coming back to life. It will be interesting to see what this does to the national psyche. Shared suffering creates a strong sense of identity. Chinese pride and sense of identity was already on the rise; this will just strengthen that sense.
