The Australian government has become very upset about an image made by a Chinese artist, and published on the Twitter account of a vocal Chinese government official.
"This is repugnant!" says Australia. "China shouldn't criticise us in this way."
And there's exactly the point China is trying to make.
In a follow-up image posted to his Weibo account, the artist calls out what he sees as Australia's hypocrisy.
The image shows a battle in the background. To the right of the image, Scott Morrison is covering dead bodies with the Australian flag. He's also pointing at the artist and shouting "apologise!" while a media scrum looks on at the artist.

It's powerful. But will it be effective at making Australia see its own hypocrisy? Or will it just make both sides more entrenched? Time will tell.
